Background: This 1993 Stephen Spielberg film is based on the true story of German war profiteer Oskar Schindler, who initially capitalizes on the war and cheap Jewish labor, but experiences personal transformation during the course of the war as the true nature of the Holocaust unfolded. In addition to winning 7 Academy Awards (including the Oscar for Best Picture), Schindler’s List is often listed among the greatest films of all time. In 2007, the American Film Institute ranked it as the 8th greatest film ever made.
